Hanging out at 17,000ft |

Hanging out above 17,000 ft is difficult - normal daily tasks are quite tiring. Any kind of real physical activity, like hiking or filming, leaves one exhausted at the end of the day. Though usually a night owl, I go to bed early, as do most people.
We do have a large dome tent with a DVD player and flat screen TV, it seats up to 30 people. There is generally a movie showing right after dinner until about 9:30. Sometimes the very ambitious will watch a second movie until around 11:00, we have to run a noisy generator to watch movies, so many nights there is no late movie so as to be considerate to people trying to sleep.
The movie selection consists of the usual American and UK titles, we also have a selection of Nepali and 'Bollywood' titles which are popular amongst the Sherpas. There is a self serve bar run on the honor system, you just tick down your beverage consumptions on a sheet, and pay at the end of the trip.
There is soda, as well as Chinese Budweiser, and Lhasa beer. Though normally a big beer drinker, the altitude greatly amplifies the effect of alcohol, and I find one beer usually sufficient. My favorite movies lately are 'Borat' and 'Team America', I prefer comedy up here, as we have enough serious issues to think about.
