Everest makes its own weather
Weather

As usual, the mountain weather is unpredictable and variable. Everest makes its own weather and it's usually bad. It gets well below freezing at night due to the altitude. We are in a deep valley that also has its own strange weather pattern. Some mornings are sunny and clear but often there's a micro-storm which spits snow upon us as we're waking up. The mornings will be calm and sunny but the wind usually picks up in the afternoon, and it can get very cold and windy.

Sometimes we can see Everest and other times it's hidden in cloud. Occasionally the jet stream scrapes the top of the mountain and blows off a snow banner that extends for miles. It's generally clear and cold at night, but it may become warmer and cloudier towards the morning. Once in a while it can be quite pleasant clear and warm but this is unusual. The weather here reminds me why I live in sunny California.
