The Sherpas are the real heroes of all expeditions. They clean, cook, carry our gear, climb the mountain for us, set up our camps, carry our oxygen, fix the ropes and ladders. Many of them have summited numerous times. Their strength, cheerfulness and sense of humor is an inspiration.
This is their environment - they are as at home here as we are out of place. Without these remarkable people, virtually nothing in the Himalaya would be climbed. I cannot describe my awe and respect for this remarkable group of people and we would probably perish here without their assistance.
